The concept of shayd began as an umbrella rental company with beautifully branded, colorful beach umbrellas delivered directly to customers on the beach to provide the ultimate in sun protection. As we were planning the personalized delivery service, the business model quickly evolved. We realized that rather than compete with well established beach vendors, it would serve both them and their customers well to improve the process of renting beach goods. Our company would help turn what is often thought of as a seasonal, cash only model into a year-round, cashless, e-commerce-based reservation business - moving an entire industry into the 21st century.
